I am a Spanish speaking RD in the Philadelphia area. Passionate about working with the Latino communities and helping them establish healthy relationships with their food and bodies while maintaining our culture.
I work with body image and food relationship issues using a non-diet approach in order to make more space and energy for desires and what is important in anyone’s life.
I offer an intuitive eating approach to health and well being. I offer support and dual sessions with parents and kids.
I work with my clients utilizing a combination of nutritional therapy and coaching, along with accessible yoga (if interested) to address disordered eating and body image concerns. My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in “health at every size” and is weight-inclusive.
I work with folks from a relational, psychodynamic, trauma and social justice informed approach. The healing process is much like what happens in regular therapy, however, we are focused specifically on the relationship to food and the body. I join parents in exploring their own relationship to food and their bodies, in order for their healing to bring about a peaceful and trust-based approach to food with their children. My framework is based in HAES(R), intuitive eating, and Ellyn Satter’s eating competence model, all of which are backed by significant research. My heart is to help adults find freedom so the younger generation can, in turn, be free.
I work with children and families to promote positive relationships with food, physical activity and body image.
When working with parents, I focus on the Division of Responsibility, all food fit, weight-neutral, etc.
Erica Leon Nutrition has three dietitians. We all BELIEVE OUR BODIES ARE A GIFT AND WE CAN work towards healthy behaviors at every size. We support parents in helping their children recover from all types of eating disorders and honor the family as the first line treatment provider. We also work with children, teens and adults with ALL types of disordered eating. We use an intuitive eating model, but also recognize that most individuals struggling with an eating disorder need prescriptive meal plans. We always work in a team with a physician and therapist (at the minimum).
I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with feeling out of control, confused or stuck around eating to heal their relationship to food so they can be free from diets for good and live a fuller life!
I love to help all individuals work to have a healthy relationship with food and their bodies, to support this I work to educate and support parents in addressing their own weight, food, body judgments and rules and also how they can transfer a positive food relationship to their children who are innately born with the ability to eat. I serve individuals in the state of Texas as a Certified Eating Disorder RD (CEDRD), and provide coaching/counseling as an intuitive eating counselor worldwide.
I use Ellyn Satter’s Division of Responsibility model which is a non-diet model for raising good eaters – focus is on building the child’s eating skills rather than nutrient-focus.
I coach parents to use responsive feeding to support children in developing a positive relationship with food and body.
I value the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their relationship with food and cultivate valued-focused living. Working together from a place of curiosity, we will unpack and challenge beliefs and eating patterns that you have identified are no longer helpful in your life. I am here to support you with compassion and understanding while also encouraging risk-taking as you move forward on your journey to recovery.
I have 23 years of working in the field of eating disorders, so I approach talking with parents about food and feeding with a preventative angle and use HAES-informed and intuitive eating principles.
