My name is Carol, and I have 13+ years experience working with teens and adults, along with their family and partners, in recovering from eating disorders, as well as other mental health issues. I work from a systems approach, which means I see each individual in a web of relational dynamics with themselves and others. When there is someone embattled with an eating disorder, it not only creates suffering for that person, it also ripples into creating suffering for those who love them and who are in relationship with them. I take a "no blame" approach to healing and relational repair, while also helping everyone "get real" and talk about the ways they may have unintentionally hurt each other.
I have a private practice called Modern Relationships, where I offer individual and relational therapy. I also have 10+ years experience supervising therapists who also want to do this rewarding work of helping and individual and their loved ones, recovery. I also developed the Family + Relationship Therapy + Program Offerings at Opal: Food + Body Wisdom - an eating disorder recovery center in the heart of Seattle, female owned and run, serving all genders and body-types. I am a HAES practitioner and I also have been trained in RO-DBT (Radically Open DBT), a treatment modality that is showing excellent results for people with temperaments that are "over-controlled," which is common for many people who struggling with restriction, as well as obsessive/compulsive behaviors.
