Abby Emmert, MA LAC NCC
I am passionate about helping my clients find their inner strengths and it is my goal that you will always leave our sessions knowing your value!
I specialize in eating disorders, OCD, and anxiety using a strengths and compassion-based approach. I also work well with those struggling with body image and body dysmorphia who are looking to heal their relationship with their body and food. As a former collegiate athlete, I love working with this population, as well. I am a HAES (Health at Every Size) practitioner and am passionate about providing non-diet, size inclusive care. As an eating disorder survivor and OCD warrior, I know what it's like to live with these disorders and wonder if there is a future without them.
I approach each client differently based on their individual needs, walking with them through the process, and collaborating on their care the entire time. Reaching out for help is scary, but you aren't alone.

Are you tired of feeling judged from medical professionals (therapists included) based on your weight? But you may also want to have a space where you can talk about self-esteem, self-image, eating habits, and overall health without feeling shame or a need to be defensive. I can offer you a space to do this without the judgment that often happens. We can process through your own relationship with food, body image, and health. We will work together to understand the impact that society has on our values. I strongly believe that every body is a good body and hope to help people feel more comfortable with themselves. If you are interested in seeing if I may be a good fit for what you are looking for, please don't hesitate to reach out and set up a free 15 minute consultation.

Through the use of experiential body-based clinical interventions I help clients break through to the deeper root causes of the Eating/ body issues and find freedom from the ‘Emotional Terrorism’ of the eating disorder.

Our world is filled with the intense pressures of diet culture and societal expectations, our relationship with food and our bodies often become deeply entangled with judgment, self-criticism, and compliance to these ideals. Often these hurdles obstruct our paths to self-fulfillment and inner peace.
I hold a firm belief: the power to heal and reconnect with our bodies in a kind and nurturing manner resides within us all. It's my purpose to guide you through this process of rediscovery and restoration, as we navigate the paths toward self-acceptance and genuine connection. I believe in working in a collaborative approach, we'll work toward dismantling harmful patterns, fostering a resilient relationship with nourishment, and working toward emotional and mental wholeness that honors both your uniqueness and your goals.
My goal is to empower my clients to reach their goals through evidenced-based practices and using the Health At Every Size approach to meet my clients with compassion and understanding. I believe in meeting my clients where they are in life and in their recovery journey.
I don’t subscribe to a universal treatment approach. That's why my intake process is more extensive compared to other sessions. My aim is to gain a thorough comprehension of each person's objectives, obstacles, disconnects, and connections. We work together in our treatment approach, ensuring we harness all evidence-based interventions and coping mechanisms that uniquely assist each individual on their personal journey.
