I use cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative approaches to help client heal from eating disorder and body image issues. I enjoy utilizing relationships and families in therapy, as the qualities and supportiveness of these relationships will often be key in long-term recovery. I approach recovery from a non-diet, HAES perspective. I also like working in a treatment team of qualified professionals for optimal care and treatment. Katie Bingaman, LCSW
I specialize in helping my clients develop a peaceful relationship to their bodies, find freedom from the food and body police, and learn to care for themselves without shame and anxiety. My passion is helping people recover from compulsive eating, emotional eating, binge eating, body shame, and experiences of sizeism/fatphobia.
I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and I use a weight neutral, Health At Every Size approach. What makes working on these things in therapy different from (although often complementary to) coaching or nutrition counseling is the depth and breadth of exploration that we will do into our sessions, using your relationship to food and your body as a starting point. My clients often find that this work is never just about food or body image. This work is fundamentally about self-trust, self-worth, autonomy, embodiment, pleasure, and joy.
Sari Meltzer, LCSW-C
I am a licensed clinical social worker specializing in providing support to individuals with eating disorders, disordered eating, and those who want to improve their relationship with food and their body. I have extensive experience working with these clients at different levels of care, including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient.
While challenges with food and body may be what brings a client to see me, I know that these struggles do not exist in a vacuum. This is why I take a holistic approach and support my clients in exploring and learning ways to cope with anxiety, depression, relational conflict, trauma symptoms and other life challenges. I teach my clients skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and a Health at Every Size® (HAES) provider.
