If you are struggling in your relationship with your body you are certainly not alone. Eating disorders, trauma, and anxiety often go hand and hand and can be worsened by providers who focus on weight instead of emotional and physical wellness. I offer a weight neutral approach to healing your relationship with food and your body. I see you as a whole person and will help you see how the experiences and influences in your life have negatively impacted how you see yourself. I am licensed in Ohio and therefore can only work with you if you reside in Ohio.

Are you sick and tired of struggling with food/body image/diet/exercise/etc all the time? When you are "in it" your anxiety and/or depression gets worse. Sometimes you wonder if it's the "food stuff" that increases the anxiety/depression or vice versa? I know exactly how you are feeling: uncomfortable in your own skin, fantasize of a different body, unworthy, disgusting etc. You do not have to live this any more, and I look forward to getting you there so you can focus on what actually matters.
I'm a licensed therapist and certified intuitive eating coach and able to work with both types of clients in my separate practices. If you're unsure what would work best for you, we can figure this out together. I am all about real life skills, tools and strategies for myself and you. I will give a mix of logistical skills as well as a psychological insight. I want you to get better and therefore I know you will not need to see me forever (unless you want to). If you are ready and willing to do the work, then you'll be on your way. My goal for you is to leave therapy knowing how to do it on your own and feeling confident to push through, because you know you got this. I am direct and utilize the following modalities: solution focused, CBT and Client centered.
I truly believe that people can change. In order for change to happen there has to be a desire and willingness. There can be several factors at play with developing eating disorders and disordered eating: unhealthy learned behaviors, societal norms, perfectionism, trauma, social media and our environment and DIET CULTURE (to name a few). You have the power to unlearn these unhealthy coping skills or bad habits. I know you can change because I've seen in with my clients and myself. Besides therapy (helping people) being a passion, so is dancing. I LOVE to move my body and dance. I don't discriminate against anyone. I support "Health at Every Size", "Intuitive Eating", "All Foods Fit" and "Body Neutrality" movements. If you want to learn more about how I can help you, shoot me a message.

I utilize a strengths-based, eating disorder and Health at Every Size informed approach to therapy and parent coaching. I am certified to lead the Confident Body Confident Child program, which is evidence-based to help parents guide their child in developing a healthy relationship with food without negatively affecting their child's body image. I am also a certified trainer and leader of The Body Project, which helps teenage girls challenge the "appearance ideal" by developing cognitive dissonance between societal ideals of beauty and the girl's own values. I use these trainings and my experience working in the eating disorder field to help support parents who are trying to raise their children to be body confident and have a healthy, flexible relationship to food.

Paige Thompson, LPC
I specialize in helping those struggling with eating disorders, body image, trauma, athletes, anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health (pregnancy/postpartum), a life transition or some overlap of these struggles.
While coping skills are important and needed, I believe lasting change comes from an increased awareness and understanding of the complexities and strengths already within oneself which is why much of my work is driven by relational, psychodynamic and Internal Family Systems (IFS) principles. This means that I want to understand how you relate to yourself, others and see the therapeutic relationship as a powerful agent of change. Together we will access and explore all aspects of your humanity including past and present experiences with a sense of curiosity, empathy, insight and even humor at times. While majority of my work is driven by these relational principles, I will tailor my approach to each of my individual clients. This is going to vary based on your goals, presenting challenges, personality, and what we find together feels right for you! Depending on your goals, I might occasionally incorporate skills from mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and motivational interviewing in our work together to further foster desired growth.
My work is strongly grounded in the principles of Health At Every Size (HAES) and intuitive eating with an anti-diet/fat-positive approach. I work with clients of various backgrounds and value understanding how systems of oppression may have impacted you throughout your life through a social justice lens. I am cis/het, able and thin bodied white woman and am consistently working to further understand my own privileges. I am committed to providing a safe place and am LGBTQIA+ affirming and an always learning ally of diversity of all types.
